Michael Corkill
Michael completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo, where he competed in varsity soccer, before earning his Master of Physical Therapy at Queen’s University. His passion for physiotherapy began through his own experience with rehabilitation following shoulder surgery at a young age. The guidance and connection he developed with his physiotherapists as they helped him return to what mattered most to him continues to shape the clinician he strives to be today.
Throughout his education, Michael spent two years working with the football programs at both Waterloo and Queen’s University, while also gaining experience with soccer and women’s basketball. These experiences helped develop his passion for exercise-based rehabilitation, targeted training, and helping people bridge the gap between recovery and optimal performance.
Michael believes that performance is personal. For an athlete, it may mean returning to competition; for an executive, it may mean building the strength, resilience, and capacity to meet the demands of a busy lifestyle; and for others, it may simply mean moving confidently and returning to the activities they value most.
Central to Michael’s approach is ensuring there is purpose behind rehabilitation. He wants his patients to understand what they are experiencing, why it is happening, and the reasoning behind their treatment rather than simply following a program. By combining this understanding with individualized rehabilitation and training, Michael aims to build meaningful connections with his patients and help each person reach their own version of optimal performance.
